Conservation
Rainbow is a development that respects and preserves its surrounding environment. It encourages green, natural and environmental community living and has a close relationship with wildlife organizations. The landscaping includes the protection of the natural surroundings and retention of native species as well as minimal wildlife disturbance. For example, the bear proofing of the refuse deposit buildings as well as their policy of “what comes out, goes back in” (soil and vegetation retention).
Rainbow Joint Ventures made a decision early on in the planning process to utilize all of the by-product material that is normally generated in the preparation of an area for the building of homes. For example, the rocks and gravel have been broken down to the appropriate form and size and placed back on each individual lot to make a home footprint.
Rainbow also respects and ensures the preservation of its surrounding environment through both stormwater management and watercourse protection that have been integrated into the development’s guidelines.
With a goal of limiting emissions, the planning of the parks and parks in Rainbow encourages walking and cycling. As well, the homes built for locals are energy efficient and located on the lots to maximize the sun orientation.
Extensive tree retention and replanting will be undertaken through the course of the development process, with native tree and shrubs being key to the final landscaping plans.
The residential component will be surrounded by alpine forest and will contain designated parks and riparian areas along with interconnecting pathways, pedestrian and bike trails.
